Outlaw Oyster is a farm in the Florida panhandle that specializes in growing, harvesting, and selling top shelf oysters. They approached BowStern Marketing Communications to create a website for their business to help them stand out and to establish them as a leading seller of oysters in the region.

This project was unique in that it wasn't designed primarily by one designer. The branding was handled in house by my colleague at the time Brannon Solomon, who did an amazing job on the logo and brand package. But when it came down to the design of the website, we ended up gathering around one computer and designing it as a team. I think that's why it ended up being so successful - decades of design experience and a committee of strong opinions helped craft it into an award winning design.

While the design of the homepage was a team effort, I took it from there and built out the rest of the website on my own using fonts, images, and textures provided to me by the brand package. The user experience was intentionally playful, with moving parts and quirky phrases, to invoke the spirit of the owners. Their flair for farming oysters informed the spirit of the website.

As a result of an amazing team effort, the Outlaw Oyster website ended up winning the Best in Show award at the 2018 Tallahassee ADDYs. It was a huge honor to have worked on the development of this project, and winning that award is still one of the highlights of my design career.
