Discover the rebellious spirit and charm in my branding project for Sweet Pea Cafe - a locally owned vegan café in Tallahassee, Florida. I was honored to be asked to craft an identity that captures the essence of this unique establishment, blending bold punk aesthetics with playful elements that celebrate its locally owned roots.

My branding projects always start with a mood board based on an initial conversation about my client's goals and vision for their new logo. The owners of Sweet Pea wanted to incorporate punk visuals such as hand lettered typography, heavy textures, bold colors, and bespoke illustration.

The second step in my branding process involves a ton of sketching and doodling. A lot more than you see above. Basically pouring out every idea into a sketchbook and seeing what sticks. I usually present the client with three or four options in black and white in order to maintain efficiency and get on the same page before we go too far down the rabbit hole of one idea.

In the third phase of our project, bold typography and edgy graphics command attention, while hints of vibrant color add a rebellious flair. Yet, there is also a touch of sweetness, reflecting the café's commitment to creating an inviting atmosphere. The three options above were presented to my client, and we ended up using bits and pieces from each idea to fully flesh out the branding package.

Every detail tells a story of defiance and creativity. We focus on embracing individuality, supporting local businesses, and enjoying delicious vegan fare in a space that feels uniquely welcoming. With this branding project, we've captured the spirit of the café and created an identity that's as unforgettable as the food it serves.

Sometimes a client needs a slightly different version of their logo for a specific service within the company. In this instance, Sweet Pea Cafe required a version that they could use specifically for their line of baked goods, so I provided them with the version above.
